Of all previous bikes, including a GPZ-750, ZX-10, ZX-6R, TL-1000 (and even a 1500 Intruder!) this is the most comfortable do-it-all bike I've owned. Known it's full history from new (it's had the best of care). I even flogged it at a track day at Thunderhill raceway this year and it worked perfectly. Just completed a 900-mile one day ride and it ran flawlessly!

Most of the usual_rear wheel bearing at 52k, leaking clutch slave cylinder(twice),replaced warped front brake rotors at 85k, otherwise standard maintenance and replacement.

After 55000km of touring, mostly two up,over the past 4 years I am still impressed with this bike.It,s comfortable,reliable,feels unstressed and is perfect for our 120km cruising pace.Plus that top gear "roll-on" is so damned addictive.

None yet because I just bought the bike. I basically wanted a bike that would have all the mods I would have done anyway, next year, I want stainless steel pipes because I hate rust.

Problems:
The only complaint I have about this bike is that the rear of the front fender (the lower black plastic part that faces the header pipes) seems to have heated up and started to warp THAT part of the fender. it wasn't like that when I bought the bike in April this year, and I've only put about 80 miles on the bike since. Don't know how this happened.

I haven't had THIS bike long, Ijust recently sold my 85 FJ1100 to a buddy of mine to upgrade to the 12. The FJ1100 was a great bike. I bought it with 17,000 mi and logged over 23,000 miles myself riding to Lake George(Americade every year for 10 years now), Ohio, Daytona Bike week, and Connecticut every Sunday morning (Marcus Dairy). The 1100 never let me down, but I did have to undercut 2nd gear because of that patented Yamaha 2nd gear slip. After that, it performed perfectly like the little torq monster that it is. Replaced the clutch master cylinder at 38,000mi, put Yoshimora 4 into 1 exhaust also at 38,000. Anyway, just glad to have found a site of fellow FJ'ers and hope to swap some info.

All sorted now thanks to Phil (Doc) HACKER at FJ Owners Club workshops. It is a fair ride from my home but worth it every time. The bike is now serviced up to the hilt and I hope to keep it that way from now on.

Front suspension mods, & tyres radically improved handling. Magic carpet ride. Very sure footed. Engine has Dynoed @ 142Hp, 95ft/lb torque, giving 85ft/lb from 3000rpm onwards. Never less. Fuel consumption now 54mpg (no buls@#t), as long as speed kept below 145km/hr.
